The left side of the building. Notice how wood lattice has been used to soften the appearance of the fire escape stairs (which are a later addition). As you can see, it is a bit of a foggy day. That's the way it is here on the Maine coast. A few days of fog, then a day or two of sun, then back to fog. A local saying is "if you don't like the weather, wait a day. It will change." Notice the first floor roof in this photo. The area under it was originally a veranda (porch) that extended from the front porch around the side and along the back of the inn. Over the years most of the veranda has been enclosed. This portion is office space. On the back of the inn the veranda was enclosed to create the lounge and additional dining room area. A new deck was added to replace the veranda. You will see this as we walk around to the back and also when we go inside. Lets walk around to the back of the inn now.
